When we talk about dental restorations, we are talking about those procedures that repair both the look and function of your teeth. This can mean anything from a small filling to a bridge that replaces a span of missing teeth. At Urban Centre Dental, we offer several types of restorations that will fix dental damage and make your teeth look as good as new:
Most of us are no stranger to a filling or two! Available in silver or composite resin, a filling repairs cracks, chips, and of course, cavities, preventing further decay and restoring the look of the tooth.
When a damaged tooth can no longer be filled or needs support, we will recommend a crown. A crown covers the entire tooth, providing structure to both prevent further damage and help retain the tooth long-term. We’ll always discuss your options with you and help you choose the restoration that’s right for you.
Another option for restoring damaged teeth, the inlay is placed within your tooth, providing the same structure and support as a crown, but with a more molded and precise fit. Made from porcelain, gold, or resin, inlays look good and function well.
An onlay is made the same way as an inlay, but instead of fitting within the tooth, the onlay fits over the edge, and may go as far down as the gumline, depending on the restoration. They have the same molded fit as an inlay, but provide more coverage.
A bridge, just like the name suggests, is anchored at each end and spans a gap of missing teeth. Attached to remaining teeth on either side, the bridge provides artificial teeth to fill in the space. Comfortable, long-wearing, and attractive, bridges are a popular choice for tooth replacement.
